School Gymnasium Ventilation

The gym's original ventilation couldn't keep pace with a full house during assemblies and games, leaving the space stuffy and overheated no matter the season, and teachers had started scheduling fewer activities there simply because of how uncomfortable it got. After running the load calculations for the gym's volume and typical occupancy, we installed packaged rooftop units sized specifically for high-traffic, high-occupancy use rather than standard classroom loads, and redesigned the duct distribution to eliminate the dead-air pockets that made the far end of the court feel ten degrees warmer than center court. We also added demand-control ventilation so the system ramps up automatically during full-capacity events and idles back down for everyday use, keeping operating costs in check. The entire project, from equipment delivery to final testing, was scheduled and completed over summer break so it never disrupted a single school day or practice.
