Lakeside Family Home Retrofit

The Hendersons had lived with the same aging split system since they bought their lakeside home in the late 1990s - patching it together with duct tape and hope every summer. Upstairs bedrooms ran five degrees warmer than the main floor no matter how low the thermostat was set, and their energy bills had crept up every year as the equipment lost efficiency. After a Manual-J load calculation revealed the original ductwork was badly undersized for the house's layout, we replaced the whole system with a two-stage heat pump, resealed and rebalanced every run, and integrated a smart thermostat so every room finally holds its temperature. We also walked the crawlspace to seal off the leaks that were quietly bleeding conditioned air before it ever reached the vents. The job was scheduled and finished inside two days, with the family never spending a night without comfort, and their first full summer on the new system saw cooling costs drop by nearly a third.
